What is “What the Duck?” and goPINK+?
It’s a fundraiser for goPINK+, which raises money to provide free integrative medicine therapy to cancer patients, including those with breast cancer, at Middlesex Health Cancer Center. Businesses, families and groups donate to receive a wood duck to decorate. The completed ducks will be displayed in Downtown Middletown for viewing and voting by the public. The top ducks will be awarded!
Why the Duck?
Back in 2019, (remember then?) EG Salon came up with a new goPINK+ fundraiser - a duck race! They launched rubber ducks down a creek near The Blackbird Tavern in Middlefield. Anyone who purchased a duck in the race was entered into a drawing to win prizes. The duck race was such a hit that we have brought it back each year since. Now we’ve added another duck themed way to support goPINK and cancer patients with What the Duck?, a wooden duck decorating contest in Downtown Middletown, CT. That’s why the duck.
