Bio

Kathryn (Katy) S. Tierney, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, FAANP is the Medical Director of the Middlesex Health Center for Gender Medicine and Wellness and a nurse practitioner at Middlesex Health Multispecialty Group - Endocrinology.

Education & Training

Katy is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner.  She completed her Master of Science in Nursing at the Yale University School of Nursing, where she also earned a certificate in nursing. Katy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from Smith College.

Clinical Expertise

Transgender Medicine
In addition to coordinating transgender medicine services across Middlesex Health and working to ensure that all patients have equitable access to the highest quality health care, Katy provides hormone therapy for transgender patients.

Endocrinology
Katy cares for patients with conditions that affect the endocrine system, such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, calcium disorders and adrenal insufficiency. Katy's expertise in diabetes management includes insulin pumps or continuous glucose sensors.

In addition to her active clinical practice, Katy is a clinical instructor at the Yale University School of Nursing, Quinnipiac University and the University of Connecticut School of Nursing. She has also given academic presentations at numerous local and national conferences.
