Appetite for Life

MIDDLETOWN — Appetite for Life, a month-long fundraiser that benefits the Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center, will kick off May 31 at Tuscany Grill in Middletown. A second party will be held at Luigi’s Restaurant in Old Saybrook on June 7.

Many restaurants throughout Middlesex County participate in Appetite for Life, which is in its eighth year. As a patron, a percentage of your bill will be donated to the Cancer Center if you dine at a participating restaurant during the month of June. In addition, The Feed Bag Pet Supply Company in Old Saybrook will donate a percentage of its June sales on select products.

Those who choose to eat at restaurants participating in Appetite for Life could win prizes, including technology items, concert tickets, excursions and gift cards. To be eligible for Appetite for Life prizes, individuals must submit to the Hospital signed event “passports.”

“We are grateful to the 33 restaurants participating in Appetite for Life, which benefits the Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center and our patients,” says Sarah Moore, director of development at Middlesex Hospital. “All proceeds support local cancer patient care and support services. This is a delicious way to support cancer patients in our community. We invite you to eat out for a good cause.”

The May 31 kickoff party at Tuscany Grill, 120 College Street in Middletown, will feature live music by Chris Marolda and Lil’ Chirs and will begin at 4:30 p.m. and end at 6:30 p.m. The June 7 party at Luigi’s Restaurant, 1295 Boston Post Road in Old Saybrook, will feature live music by Nick Fradiani, Sr., and will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets for each party are $15 and include appetizers, wine and beer tastings and live music.
