Cancer Center to Host Lung Cancer Vigil

Press Release, October 27, 2015

The Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center will host a special vigil to bring awareness to lung cancer, honor those who have the disease and remember those who have lost their lives to it.

The vigil will take place on Thursday, November 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the atrium of the Cancer Center at 536 Saybrook Road in Middletown. The event is free and open to the community and is being held in conjunction with the Lung Cancer Alliance. It is one of many similar events taking place as part of the National Shine a Light on Lung Cancer Vigil program.

The event will also feature keynote speaker, Dr. Alicia McKelvey, Middlesex Hospital thoracic surgeon and guest speakers will be Dennis McCann, Middlesex Hospital Pastoral Care; Megin Iaccarino, Middlesex Hospital Lung Nurse Navigator; and Dr. Andrea Malon, Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center Medical Director. A lung cancer survivor will also address the group and vocalist Rain Iaccarino will perform. Everyone in attendance will be given a glow stick that will be lighted after a moment of silence is observed.
