Hospital to Host Health Lectures

Press Release, October 20, 2014

Middlesex Hospital will host two upcoming free, public lectures in the Community Education Center at the Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Center, 250 Flat Rock Place in Westbrook.

The first lecture, entitled, “Hospice — It’s Not About Dying,” will be held on Wednesday, November 19 at 5:30. Dying is not an easy subject to discuss for most of us. Many people have misconceptions about hospice care. According to William Zeidler, M.D., medical director of Middlesex Hospital Hospice and Palliative Care, hospice is not about dying, it’s about living the best life you can until you die. Dr. Zeidler will explain why this is true and why end-of-life care is truly so important to living.

The second lecture, entitled, “Know Your Drugs,” will be held on Thursday, December 4, at 5:30 p.m. Safety is key when dealing with medications. It is important to know what medications you take, why and how to take them properly. Keeping an up-to-date list of medications can also be critical in a medical situation. Middlesex Hospital Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator John Moyher, Pharm.D., will discuss all of these topics, in addition to describing the proper method of disposing of medications.

Please register for either or both of these lectures by calling 860-358-8856 or online at www.middlesexhospital.org/fall2014lectures.
