120 Hours in Nevada, Janine Janaki

Janine Janaki's "120 Hours in Nevada" will be one of several pieces on display as part of the Local Vision II exhibition at the Zahn Gallery.

WESTBROOK — The Local Vision II exhibition, which highlights the work of 38 local artists from 22 Connecticut cities and towns, will open March 23 at the Valentine H. Zahn Gallery.

The gallery is located at the Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Center, 250 Flat Rock Place in Westbrook. Opening night will feature a special reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

The exhibition will remain on display until May 20.

Curated by Jan Ayer of Fresh Ayer Gallery, a three-judge panel will select Local Vision II artwork to be recognized. Judges include attorney William A. Childress; Dennis Pough, of Pough Interiors; and Clare Rogan, curator of the Davison Art Center at Wesleyan University.

Artists who are featured as part of the exhibition will receive 100 percent of all sales.

This the second year the Zahn Gallery has held an open call for artwork through a curatorial process to give more artists an opportunity to display their work in the gallery. The gallery rotates exhibitions throughout the year, featuring local professional, amateur and student artists, and it creates a welcoming environment for those who receive care at the Shoreline Medical Center.

The gallery is open to the public during regular business hours. For more information about the gallery, contact 860-358-6200, or info@midhosp.org.
