Latest Open MRI Technology Introduced

Press Release, February 21, 2005

A brand new, ultra-short bore MRI has been installed at Middlesex Hospital’s Outpatient Center on Saybrook Road in Middletown. The powerful diagnostic tool is open on both ends, providing added comfort to patients. And, best of all, the new system provides an image quality superior to the so-called "open" MRI systems currently being marketed by many facilities.

Most scans can be done within 20 minutes and waiting times for appointments are minimal. Middlesex Hospital has also recently implemented a new Picture Archive Communication System (PACS). This system allows the MRI pictures to be immediately available for radiologists to review at off-site locations, such as their offices, the main hospital, or other Hospital satellite facilities, eliminating the need for them to be in the building to read the studies.
