Joseph A. Coatti, M.D.
Dr. Coatti completed his General Surgery residency at The Hospital of St. Raphael, in New Haven, CT. Following this was a fellowship in Cardiovascular Surgery at The Texas Heart Institute in Houston. He joined Shoreline Surgical Associates in Middletown, Connecticut in 1988. He has cared for the patients and families of the greater Middlesex community for over 25 years. In his surgical practice, Dr. Coatti is dedicated to the treatment of all forms of vascular disease, both arterial and venous, and provides full, non-invasive evaluation of all forms of vascular disease in his Middletown office. He performs state-of-the-art endovascular treatments for blocked carotid arteries, and those in the legs, such as angioplasty and stent procedures. He is an expert in hemodialysis access procedures. He has performed over 100 endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repairs, with extremely low complications and was responsible for developing this program at Middlesex Hospital. Dr. Coatti also evaluates and provides laser treatment of varicose veins in his Middletown office. In 2011, he opened The SSA Angio Center at the Middletown office site for the office-based treatment of Peripheral Arterial Disease. It is the only fully accredited office angiographic suite in the state of Connecticut.

Bart E. Muhs, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Muhs is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and in the ABS subspecialty of Vascular Surgery. He is an internationally respected vascular surgeon whose expertise encompasses the evaluation and treatment of aortic aneurysms, peripheral vascular disease, varicose veins and venous disease, carotid disease, and dialysis access procedures. Dr. Muhs was selected by the Society of Vascular Surgery as one of only two American vascular surgeons to receive specialized endovascular training in The Netherlands as the prestigious Marco Polo Fellow. Additional recognitions include receipt of the Fulbright Award in 2006 to establish a vascular surgery training program in Cameroon, Africa. He completed his doctoral dissertation on endovascular dynamics of the aorta and its side branches at Utrecht University in 2007.
