One MacDonough Place Celebrates 20 Years

For two decades, One MacDonough Place, an assisted living community owned by Middlesex Hospital, has helped older adults live life to the fullest. Many residents say One MacDonough Place feels like home – and for good reason.

One Macdonough 20 Years

One MacDonough Place opened its doors on October 5, 1998 with just three residents and was, at the time, the first assisted living community to be part of a health system and one of only 25 assisted living communities in Connecticut. Today, it has more residents, and while there are now many options when it comes to assisted living opportunities, there is only one One MacDnough Place. At One MacDonough Place, the apartments are spacious and clean, there is a communal living room, dining room and country kitchen; staff members are courteous and friendly; and the aroma of freshly baked cookies often tempts guests and residents alike. Residents are able to come and go as they please, while benefiting from three meals a day, on-site care, transportation to doctors’ appointments and their pick of fun activities.

This unique community is nestled in the heart of Middletown and located within walking distance of downtown Middletown’s many shops and restaurants, One MacDonough Place residents are active members of the greater community, and with its proximity to Middlesex Hospital, emergency care is literally right next door.

One MacDonough Place demonstrates Middlesex Hospital’s continued commitment to older adults in Middlesex County.

One MacDonough Place Anniversary

“For the past 20 years, we’ve provided older adults with the option of remaining independent while also having access to delicious meals, an active lifestyle and housekeeping, laundry and transportation services,” says One MacDonough Place Director Jennifer Cavallaro. “Our kind, compassionate caregivers – some of whom have worked at the community since it opened – are available to assist with health care needs, allowing older adults to age in place with services, such as homecare, from community providers. We love our residents and look forward to serving our community for many more years!”
