Course on Dementia to be Held at Middlesex Hospital
MIDDLETOWN — Middlesex Hospital and the Connecticut chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association are teaming up to offer a four-part course dedicated to helping the friends and family members of those who have dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.
The class will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 16, Aug. 30, Sept. 27 and Oct. 18 in the Randy Goodwin, M.D. Conference Center at Middlesex Hospital, 28 Crescent St. in Middletown. Topics will include an overview of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, and how best to communicate with people who have dementia and how to better understand their behavioral challenges and strategies. Community resources for caregivers and family dynamics will also be discussed, along with the legal and financial issues associated with dementia. Refreshments will be served.
