goPINK to Honor Dr. Robert Levy

Press Release, September 28, 2021

MIDDLETOWN — The ongoing pandemic won’t stop Middlesex Health supporters from going pink — and honoring Dr. Robert Levy!

Now in its 12th year, more than $286,000 has been raised through goPINK for Middlesex Health Cancer Center. All proceeds help cancer patients receive free integrative medicine therapy, including patients who have breast cancer.

Integrative medicine includes massage therapy, reflexology and acupuncture. These are therapies that are not covered by insurance, and they help patients with symptoms of cancer treatment, including fatigue, pain and even nausea.

This year, there are several ways to support goPINK. You can make a donation in honor of Dr. Levy, a beloved Middlesex Health medical oncologist, or attend the goPINK Party being held in his honor on October 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Café Fiore, 134 Berlin Road in Cromwell. Tickets are $25 and include appetizers and entertainment.

The virtual goPINK Duck Race is back again this year. It will be held November 1 at 2 p.m., and it will be streamed live on Facebook @gopinkproject. The donors whose ducks reach the finish line first win prizes.

A donation of $10 will include one duck in the race, and a $30 donation includes three ducks. If you donate $500 or more, a larger size duck will be entered in the race for you.

Similar to past years, there are also other ways to donate to goPINK. You can make a general donation. All support is welcome. Local businesses and schools, such as Middletown High School and Mercy High School, will also be raising money in various ways for the cause.

“Mercy High School is pleased to be supporting the worthwhile goPINK fundraiser again this year,” says Alissa DeJonge, president of Mercy High School. “We all know people who have been affected by cancer and want to do whatever we can to support efforts to eradicate the disease. Service is a major component of each student’s experience, and we are proud that our Fight Against Cancer Club has once again taken the initiative to join in the goPINK efforts.”

To purchase a goPINK Party ticket, make a donation in Dr. Levy’s honor, sponsor a duck, or to learn about other ways to support goPINK, visit MiddlesexHealth.org/gopink.
