Focused on Keeping You Safe

We are going above and beyond with safer, smarter care for you and your family.

It is important that you get the care you need, when you need it. Your health and safety is our top priority, and we want you to know that we are doing everything possible to protect you and your family when you come to Middlesex Health.

Please know that we regularly monitor COVID-19 numbers in Middlesex County and throughout Connecticut, and we may opt to loosen or tighten our policies at any time based on available statistics.

Staff at Middlesex Health are committed to your safety.

Safer + Smarter Facilities

  • Pre-Procedure Testing: You must get tested for COVID-19 if you have symptoms of COVID-19. Follow the instructions given to you by the hospital and your physician's office to get tested properly.
  • Cleaning Procedures: We have always prided ourselves on the cleanliness of our facilities. Now we are taking extra steps. We are cleaning all surfaces and equipment more often with disinfectants approved to kill the coronavirus.
  • Symptom Screening: When you arrive at a Middlesex Health facility, you will be asked if you have certain symptoms, such as a cough, difficulty breathing, chills or muscle aches. You may also have your temperature taken.
  • Vaccinated staff: Middlesex Health requires all health system employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they are granted an exemption or deferral. Staff with any symptoms - respiratory or otherwise - are not allowed to work until our Employee Health team has cleared them.
  • Masks: While masks are now optional for most individuals, there are some exceptions:
    • All patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 or who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, such as congestion, a runny nose, a cough or a fever, are still required to wear a mask at all times while at a Middlesex Health facility. Per U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, we will also continue to request that individuals who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms not visit loved ones in the hospital or accompany them to a medical appointment.
    • As recommended by the CDC, patients, visitors and staff members who have had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 10 days must wear a mask while at a Middlesex Health facility.
    • In addition, as a patient, you can request that your provider wear a mask while you are being treated.
  • Virtual Visits: Many of our providers are offering virtual visits, so you can get the care you need from the safety and comfort of home. // LEARN MORE & SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT
  • Visitor Policy: Our current visitor policy is designed to keep our patients, staff and community as safe as possible. // SEE FULL POLICY

Safer + Smarter Surgery and Hospital Care

When performing elective surgeries, Middlesex Health is following all guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, the Connecticut Department of Public Health, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and our own infectious disease specialists.

You must get tested for COVID-19 if you have symptoms of COVID-19. Follow the instructions given to you by the hospital and your physician's office to get tested properly. If you test positive for COVID-19, your healthcare provider will contact you directly to discuss if your surgery will be rescheduled.
