Middlesex Launches New Medical Record System

Middlesex Health has launched a new electronic medical record system called Epic. This system creates one medical and financial record for each patient and can be accessed through a new online patient portal called MyChart.

Epic replaces dozens of clinical and business information technology systems that were used throughout Middlesex Health. If you have an existing patient portal account through Middlesex, your account can be accessed for a limited period of time, but no new information will be added and your provider will no longer monitor it. Instead, you will need to sign up for a new MyChart account, and you can do so when you visit your medical provider’s office. At least three years of past medical data will be available in MyChart the first time you log in.

What is MyChart?

MyChart is Middlesex Health’s new, easy-to-use online patient portal powered by the Epic medical record system. MyChart creates a single medical and financial record for you. Using MyChart, you can access your medical information, interact with your providers’ offices and pay your bills all in one place.

What type of medical information can you access?

In MyChart, you can view a list of your medications and request or renew prescriptions, see your immunization records and most lab and test results, electronically message your providers’ offices—and much more. You will even have the ability to access the records of your children or a loved one if you are their medical proxy. 

Are there other benefits?

The use of Epic and MyChart also allows your medical providers to easily and securely share your information as needed within Middlesex Health and with other doctors and hospitals who use Epic, including Mayo Clinic. Middlesex Health is part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, which allows Middlesex physicians to consult with Mayo Clinic doctors regarding complex medical cases.

How do I get a MyChart account?

If you are 18 or older, you can create an account when you visit any Middlesex Health provider’s office. You will receive an activation code that will allow you to set up your account at MiddlesexHealth.org/MyChart. 

Is there a MyChart app?

Your MyChart account is accessible on Apple or Android devices using the free and secure MyChart mobile app.

MyChart is a safe and easy way to access your medical and financial information. It uses the most advanced encryption technology to ensure that only you and your health care team have access to your records.
