Equitable, inclusive, comprehensive care for transgender members of our community.
Middlesex Health's Center for Gender Medicine and Wellness is committed to providing equitable and inclusive care to individuals who are transgender, gender non-conforming, or gender expansive, as well as excellence in access, services, and outcomes. As a community hospital, we believe that we are in a unique position to provide nearly a full spectrum of medical care in a safe, personal, and convenient setting.
We understand the challenges that individuals who identify as transgender, or somewhere along the gender non-conforming spectrum, have in finding appropriate medical care to meet their individual needs. We have a dedicated Transgender Services Navigator who can help you connect with providers and services, including:
- specially-trained primary care providers
- gender affirming hormone therapy
- gender affirming surgery

Our Support Groups
Understanding and affirming the lives of trans and gender diverse persons
Middlesex Health offers multiple support groups for trans and gender diverse members of our community and their allies. These groups are free and are facilitated by medical staff with special expertise in transgender care.
Support groups are held online. You are welcome to join one or more of the groups that is/are the best fit for you.
- Gender Discussion Group - Female/Feminine: This support group focuses on providing a safe, supportive space for transgender and questioning individuals who identify as female or feel most comfortable with others who identify as female.

Transgender Medicine Services
Middlesex Health is proud to offer a comprehensive array of services to members of the transgender community.
Behavioral Health Services
Gender non-conforming/transgender individuals can feel a strong conflict between their gender (inner sense of who they are) and their physical sex characteristics. This conflict can sometimes manifest itself in depression, isolation and anxiety. Middlesex Health’s psychiatrists and behavioral health clinicians are available and trained to help.
Hormone Therapy
We recognize that gender affirming medical care is a very individualized process. At Middlesex Health, we are pleased to have specially trained medical providers in endocrinology and primary care who can deliver personalized gender-affirming hormone therapy.
Continence & Pelvic Health
Gender transition, including or not including gender confirming surgery, can bring up a wide range of concerns around bladder and bowel health, as well as sexual function and intimacy. At the Center for Continence and Pelvic Health, our urologists, gastroenterologists, OB/GYNS, and physical rehabilitation therapists work together to create customized treatment plans to meet your needs and provide compassionate, discrete, comprehensive pelvic health care.
Primary Care
At Middlesex Health, we have a network of specially-trained primary care providers who welcome the opportunity to work with you on your well-being. Our primary care offices provide a safe, welcoming environment and the physician’s relationship with you is individualized to meet your specific needs.
Physical Rehabilitation
Our physical and occupational therapists can help with chronic pain, bladder issues, movement and much more. Additionally, our speech-language pathologists offer voice therapy, working with patients to find and achieve their most authentic voice.
Gender Transition Surgery
Our surgical specialists in gynecology, urology, and plastic surgery bring expertise, experience and compassion to a host of feminizing and masculinizing surgical procedures for our transgender patients.
Infectious Disease Testing and Treatment
Our Infectious Disease specialists at the Middlesex Health Multispecialty Group can provide insight and expertise for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infections of all types, including HIV and chronic Hepatitis B and C.
