Middlesex Health: A Community Health System With a Global Reach

Middlesex Heath’s priority is to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to its community. However, it helps more than just Connecticut residents. Middlesex Health’s reach spans the globe.
In just the past 12 months alone, Dr. Joseph Aferzon and Dr. Jeffrey Bash helped a soldier from Ukraine recover from an injury, allowing him to continue fighting for his country, and Dr. Cliff O’Callahan took medical residents to Rwanda. In addition, the Middlesex Health Medical Staff, as a group, generously donated $10,000 to support those serving with Doctors Without Borders in Ukraine.
These are only a few examples of Middlesex Health’s global impact. Middlesex Health — and its physicians — make a difference every day, everywhere.

Traveling to Rwanda
The relationship between the University of Rwanda pediatrics residency program and the Middlesex Health Family Medicine Residency Program is mutually beneficial. Middesex is able to help medical staff and patients in Rwanda. In turn, Middlesex residents have the opportunity to learn about health care in a resource-limited country.
