The 33rd annual Middlesex Health Golf Tournament will take place June 5 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell — just two weeks before the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship kicks off on the same course.

The Middlesex Health Golf Tournament is a much-anticipated event that raises money for Middlesex Health Cancer Center, which has locations in Middletown and Westbrook. Over the years, the money raised has been used to help cover the costs of cancer patient support services not covered by insurance, such as integrative medicine therapy. The money has also helped the Cancer Center acquire new technology and renovate facilities to help improve patient care.

Each year, several local businesses step up to sponsor the Middlesex Health Golf Tournament. By doing so, they are positively impacting the health and recovery of Middlesex Health Cancer Center patients. There are an estimated 17,000 cancer survivors living in Middlesex County.

This year, the tournament has about 30 sponsors, including Aresco Construction Company and Macca Plumbing & Heating — two businesses that have supported the tournament since its inaugural year.

Notably, PMA Companies has been the tournament’s title sponsor for the past 20 years and will be honored at this year’s tournament for its generosity and for reaching this amazing milestone.

“It’s been a great partnership for many years,” says Dominic Perno, senior vice president at PMA Management Corp. “We realize how much the support has meant to Middlesex Health Cancer Center, and that really hits home.”

The Middlesex Health Golf Tournament sells out each year by early April. In addition to playing a round of golf on a championship golf course, there is a buffet lunch, on-course refreshments and a dinner reception. Awards are also given out to top finishers.
