Lung Cancer Screening

Back to health after lung cancer.

Early Detection is Key. Screening Can Help.

A lung cancer screening test can detect lung cancer at a very early stage — when it's more likely to be cured. By the time lung cancer signs and symptoms develop, treatment can be less effective.

This quick test could be life-saving. The test uses a low-dose CT scan and takes less than 30 minutes. If you are at high risk for lung cancer, the test is usually covered by insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid.

You may qualify for lung cancer screening if you:

  • Are between the ages of 50 and 80
  • Have a 20-pack a year smoking history
  • Are you a current smoker or quit within the past 15 years

If you meet any of the above criteria, contact your primary care provider and ask for a referral for a lung cancer screening exam at Middlesex Health.
