If you've been diagnosed with lung nodules, you're not alone. Every year, more than 150,000 people are diagnosed with pulmonary nodules. They are usually found by chance in otherwise healthy patients without symptoms.
A lung (pulmonary) nodule is an abnormal growth in a lung. Many things can cause lung nodules, including infections and scarring. You may have one nodule or several nodules. While more than 90 percent of these nodules are harmless, a small number may represent a very early lung tumor.
While many lung nodules only require follow-up CT scans to ensure they are not malignant, diagnosing certain lung nodules may involve a biopsy. However, careful surveillance through our program can eliminate unnecessary surgery or diagnose lung cancer at an early curable stage.
The lung specialists at Middlesex Health diagnose and treat a wide variety of lung nodules. You'll have a team of renowned experts providing a personalized treatment program. We work closely with thoracic surgeons, radiologists, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists to provide complete care.
