Self-care
Eat a healthy diet, rich in vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, avoiding saturated fats and big portions. Aim for 150 minutes or more of moderate aerobic activity each week.
When to make a doctor's appointment
See a doctor if:
- Waist measurement is above 40 inches (about 102 cm) for men, or 35 inches (89 cm) for women, as this indicates an increased risk for insulin resistance and prediabetes even if body mass index is normal
