Bicuspid aortic valve

Bicuspid aortic valve is a condition in which the aortic valve has 2 flaps instead of 3. The aortic valve uses the flaps to regulate blood flow between the heart and aorta.

Symptoms occur when the valve opening narrows. Shortness of breath during exercise may occur.

Most cases eventually require surgery. Medications also may be used.
