When to seek immediate medical care

See a doctor immediately if:

  • Sudden change
  • Severe, especially in only one eye
  • Eye pain
  • Loss of an area in the field of vision
  • Immune disorder, such as HIV or AIDS

When to make a doctor's appointment

Make an appointment to see a doctor if:

  • Accompanied by another condition, such as diabetes or high blood pressure
  • Gradually deteriorating vision
  • Double vision
