Catarrh is the inflammation of a mucous membrane, especially in the air passages of the head and throat. The condition can be caused by a cold, allergy, infection or tiny growths (polyps) in the sinuses.

Symptoms vary but may include a runny or stuffed nose, a sore throat and a persistent cough.

Decongestant nasal sprays may help.
