Cellulitis

Description

A common and sometimes serious bacterial skin infection.

Overview

Cellulitis is a common and sometimes serious skin infection caused by bacteria. The bacteria enter through a break in the skin.

Symptoms

Affected skin appears swollen and inflamed and may be hot and tender. It may spread rapidly.

Treatments

Without treatment with an antibiotic, cellulitis can be life-threatening.
