Compartment syndrome

Overview

The pressure decreases blood flow, depriving muscles and nerves of needed nourishment.

Symptoms

The painful condition may be acute, from severe injury. This type requires emergency care to save muscles.

Treatments

If caused by exercise, rest and conservative measures may help. But surgery may be needed.
