Croup

Overview

Croup is an upper airway infection that blocks breathing. It generally occurs in children.

Symptoms

It has a distinctive barking cough.

Treatments

Most cases clear up with home care in 3 to 5 days. A doctor may prescribe a steroid for a persistent case. Rarely, a severe case may need hospital care.
