Filariasis

Overview

Filariasis is a tropical disease that spreads between people through mosquito bites.

Symptoms

Symptoms include fever, swollen lymph nodes, headache, and painful swelling of the legs and genitals. Advanced cases may cause frequent bacterial infections that harden and thicken the skin.

Treatments

The infection is usually treated with medication called diethylcarbamazine.
