Self-care

If painful, apply ice for up to 20 minutes, three times a day. Try over-the-counter heel cups or wedges in shoes, as well as pain relievers to help with pain.

When to seek immediate medical care

See a doctor immediately if:

  • Sudden and severe pain
  • Unable to walk

When to make a doctor's appointment

Make an appointment to see a doctor if:

  • Pain persists or worsens
  • Limits ability to work or do daily activities
