Hypoplastic left heart syndrome

Overview

Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is a condition in which the left side of the heart is underdeveloped at birth. To compensate, the heart's right side must do all of the work.

Symptoms

Symptoms include grayish-blue skin, rapid breathing, poor feeding, and cold hands and feet.

Treatments

Treatments include medication, IV fluids, and surgery.
