Inguinal hernia

An inguinal hernia is when soft tissue, often part of the intestine, bulges through a weak point in the abdominal muscles. It's easy to see and feel the bulge.

Symptoms include pain, especially when a person coughs, bends, or lifts a heavy object.

If growing or painful, surgery can repair the hernia. Treatment may not be necessary.
