Self-care

Self-care options include eating healthy foods, being physically active, and getting plenty of sleep. Avoid alcohol and recreational drugs, as they may worsen symptoms.

When to seek immediate medical care

Seek emergency help if:

  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Chance of harming oneself or others
  • Sleepiness or change in alertness
  • Weakness in arms or legs

When to make a doctor's appointment

Make an appointment to see a doctor if:

  • Persistent
  • Memory difficulties or personality changes
  • Fatigue, loss of appetite, sleep problems, aches, or loss of interest in sex that's not caused by a medical condition or medication
