Keratoconjunctivitis sicca
Overview
Dry eye (keratoconjunctivitis sicca) occurs when tears aren't able to provide adequate moisture for the membrane on the eye's surface (the conjunctiva). The eye may become dry, red, and inflamed.
Symptoms
The main symptoms are discomfort and sensitivity to light.
Treatments
Prescription and lubricating eyedrops can reduce dryness.
