Oxidative stress
Overview
Oxidative stress is an imbalance between levels of antioxidants and free radicals in the body. Antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E, are substances that may protect cells against damage from free radicals. Free radicals are molecules produced when the body breaks down food or is exposed to tobacco smoke and radiation.
