Pancreatitis

Overview

Pancreatitis is inflammation of the organ lying behind the lower part of the stomach (pancreas). It may start suddenly and last for days or occur over many years. It has many causes.

Symptoms

Symptoms include upper abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.

Treatments

Treatment usually requires hospitalization. Once stabilized, doctors treat the underlying cause.
