Pertussis
Overview
Whooping cough (pertussis) is a highly contagious respiratory tract infection.
Symptoms
Besides a cough that sounds like "whoop," signs include a runny nose, nasal congestion, and sneezing. Whooping cough is particularly dangerous for infants.
Treatments
Treatment includes antibiotics. A vaccine is available.
