The most common type of kidney cancer in adults.

Overview

Renal cell carcinoma is most common in older adults. Risk factors include cigarette smoking and obesity.

Symptoms

Symptoms include blood in the urine and persistent pain in the back or the side.

Treatment

Treatment may include surgery, radiation, medications and destroying the cancer with heat or cold.
