Renal failure

Overview

In renal failure, the kidneys lose the ability to remove waste and balance fluids and certain substances in the body.

Symptoms

Symptoms include fatigue, breath odor or a metallic taste in the mouth, and bruising easily.

Treatments

Treatment may include diet changes, medication, and possibly external filtering of the blood (dialysis) or a kidney transplant.
