Schizoaffective disorder

There are two types of schizoaffective disorder. The bipolar type includes bouts of mania and sometimes major depression. The depressive type includes only major depressive bouts. People with schizoaffective disorder may need help and support to live their daily lives. Treatment can help manage symptoms and make quality of life better.

Symptoms may include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized thinking, unusual behavior, symptoms of depression, and manic periods of high energy.

People with schizoaffective disorder generally do best when treated with medicines along with talk therapy and life skills training.
