Excessive sleepiness.


Get enough sleep, and try to keep a regular sleep schedule. Regular exercise and avoiding caffeine in the evening also may help.

When to make a doctor's appointment

See a doctor if:

  • Somnolence is lasting or affects work or relationships.
  • Symptoms include nighttime snoring or pauses in breathing.
  • Symptoms include sadness.
  • It's hard to complete daily tasks.
