Thrombophlebitis

Overview

Thrombophlebitis is a condition in which a blood clot blocks 1 or more veins, often in the legs. Rarely, it can affect arm or neck veins. It can be fatal if the clot moves to a lung. An accident, surgery, or long rest can cause it.

Symptoms

Symptoms include warmth, pain, and swelling.

Treatments

Treatments may include drugs, compression stockings, and surgery.
