Tick-borne disease

Overview

A tick-borne disease is an illness acquired from a tick's bite. Examples are Lyme disease or Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Ticks can carry viruses, bacteria, and parasites.

Symptoms

Symptoms may appear up to a few weeks after the bite. They vary based on the disease. They may include fever, chills, aches, and a rash.

Treatments

Treatment is often antibiotics.
