Urinary tract infection

Overview

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection in any part of the urinary system, usually the bladder and the urethra. Women are at greater risk.

Symptoms

A bladder infection can cause pain, a strong urge to urinate, a burning sensation, and blood in the urine. A kidney infection can cause permanent damage.

Treatments

Common treatment is with antibiotics.
