Vasovagal syncope


After fainting, wait at least 15 minutes before getting up. If feeling faint, lie down and lift legs, drink fluids, and try to keep cool. Try to avoid known triggers.

When to seek immediate medical care

See a doctor immediately if:

  • Fainting during activity
  • Older in age
  • Injury occurs during fainting
  • Repeated episodes in short time
  • History of heart disease or family history of sudden death

When to make a doctor's appointment

Make an appointment to see a doctor if:

  • First time fainting
