Minimally invasive, state-of-the-art surgical technology for more effective treatment and faster recovery from Spine Surgery
The Spine Surgery Program at Middlesex Health offers surgical treatment options for the entire spectrum of spinal conditions, from common to complex.
Millions of people suffer from the broad range of diseases that can affect the spine. Debilitating pain and impaired function often keep people from working and enjoying normal lives. While spinal conditions and injuries, particularly neck and back pain, are quite common, they can be among the most complex and difficult ailments to treat.
Advanced Technology
ExcelsiusGPS® and Excelsius3D™ Robot-Assisted Spine Surgery
Spinal procedures require a high degree of accuracy and precision, particularly when placing surgical hardware used to stabilize vertebrae Middlesex Health recently became the first health system in New England to use Globus Medical's Excelsius3D™ intraoperative imaging device.
This device, combined with ExcelsiusGPS™ allows surgeons to use robotic navigation to precisely place spinal instrumentation anywhere from the cervical to the lumbar spinal regions.
These two pieces of advanced technology minimize the equipment needed in the operating room and decrease the time a patient is in surgery. In addition, because they require smaller incisions, these robot-assisted spine surgeries offer significant benefits such as less blood loss, less muscle damage, lower radiation exposure, and a shorter recovery time.
Our experienced team of highly-skilled surgeons work together to provide the best care possible. Whether the pain is acute or chronic, we are committed to understanding the problem and will work with each patient to determine the best way to treat it.
We know that patients with spine problems often benefit from having more than one type of health care provider. When you choose Middlesex Health for spine surgery, you gain access to our entire network of specialists such as behavioral health, pain management, and physical therapy.
We aim to improve each patient's quality of life with the least invasive treatment. When surgery is required, our surgeons use state-of-the-art surgical technology, including advanced surgical navigation, for a more precise procedure, which leads to better outcomes and a faster recovery.
